Can you believe that there is another insane planner lineup to start us off for 2019? I know I definitely can’t. Each and every release has brought us new planners, new layouts, and a whole lot of happy! I have a lot to say for this release so let’s talk. Make sure you get to the end of this post to check out my printable shopping guide!
Before we get into the conversation, I definitely recommend checking out my recap posts so that you’re up to date with all of the planner goodness!
Check Out the Recaps
There is a lot to take in this time around, but it’s not as overwhelming (to me) as it was in releases past. I believe that the format of showing the product has evolved in a very cohesive way and I enjoy the breakdown. Do I think there is room for improvement in that department? Of course. There’s a lot of questions that were unanswered until the Instagram videos and I feel a lot of that could have been covered in its own YouTube video instead of isolating the additional information. It’s hard when Q&A sessions are done strictly on Instagram instead of on a platform that could compile and allow others to chime in.
While I enjoy this line up a lot, I do have one giant, massive, annoying pet peeve. I can’t stand the exclusives and store line up. I understand that this is entirely on the stores that are purchasing and contracts and a ton of other legal and business jargon, but it is frustrating. Walmart officially being added to the mix is fantastic, but since they no longer price match it makes purchasing complicated. Staples having a smaller selection isn’t anywhere near as isolating and Michaels is commonly found and is the best resource. Granted Michaels has a lot of work to do in their ordering department, but at least there’s an opportunity to buy the product.
Now Hobby Lobby and Joann’s? Completely different story. Hobby Lobby is consistently either too early or too late with product. I was amazed to see on social media that someone just found an original set of Trendsetter products – stickers included. Wow. This leads to an insane divide between unhappy customers and very unhappy workers. It’s not fun and it doesn’t make the planner experience enjoyable.
In regards to Joann I could write a completely separate post on why Joann selling The Happy Planner is the worst thing ever. And I genuinely mean every bit of that statement. Let me start off with an example, since I know this might not be commonplace in larger states that have an appropriate number of Joann locations.
In New Jersey there are 12 Joann locations. Out of those 12 only five carry The Happy Planner. One of those five doesn’t even carry the more exclusive lines and only carries the basics such as this release. Besides the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced (and this is common in other locations which is sad), this creates an even bigger issue. With Joanns carrying so many exclusives it’s often very difficult for customers to get exactly what they’re looking for. Yes, Joanns does offer online ordering for a large percentage of their products, but it often takes weeks before these products find their way online and the sales are usually completely different. I understand that most stores operate their e-commerce and brick and mortar store locations as separate entities (such as Joann), but this is not common knowledge.
Know What Would Be Even Better?
I personally would love to see considerably less exclusives and more accessible retailers.
Something else I would love to see? That create your own planner that everyone keeps asking for. I’ve seen it time and time again – “We don’t want to offer this as it will raise the price of the planners.” BUT if this is offered the people will come. I would love to see an expansive line offered online from start to finish with a smaller selection in retail locations for people to purchase already ready made. I’m talking all the cover choices, all the disc choices, the layout choice and everything in between. Sound like a familiar concept? It should because Erin Condren already does this. This is the one thing that I honestly thing should be done because it will cause such an insane growth and so many other planner companies already do this. It’s not a new concept and it works out perfect. One of my favorite planners is actually the Purple Trail Planner because it allowed me to customize it from start to finish. You never see it because it’s my personal planner, but I love it.
If Mambi were to offer something like this I would gladly pay at least $50, if not more, for this set up. There’s a reason certain business models work phenomenally and I think it would be fantastic for future growth.
My Personal Favorites
I am very proud of myself and the only planner that I really 100% have to have is the Vintage Botanical from Hobby Lobby. Not only do I adore the cover more, but I also love that it’s a deluxe planner! Those metal discs? L O V E.
Now the stickers? Completely different story because I’m kinda wanting a few different sets. The updated and revamped Daydreamer sticker set is calling to me like no tomorrow.
However, I do have to say I’m smitten with both the pregnancy and baby planners. While I have no intention of getting pregnant and having babies anytime soon I do love that there is an option out there. I think it would be great to see a wedding boxed kit in the future. The wedding extension was very popular, but to have a whole kit dedicated to weddings would be fantastic.
What planners are your favorite this time around?
The current release date for all of these products is March 8th on the Mambi shop and is currently being set in stores very soon. Some Hobby Lobbys have already started to place product on the shelves – so be on the look out as it’ll be arriving everywhere else soon!

Please note that a PDF reader is required to print this as a double sided printable. The individual pages have also been made available so you can print them however you need to.
Interested in a different format? Let me know in the comments and I can try to put something together. 🙂
Huge thank you to Sarah from Hello Muffin for helping me out on the second half of the Instagram videos! I wound up missing a huge chunk and without her the guide wouldn’t be as complete as it is! <3 Make sure you go show her some love!
I’ve Got Some Questions
Q: Why is there no prices?
A: The reason there is no prices is because pricing fluctuates a lot. For example, my Michaels is more expensive than other Michaels so my price is not the same as yours. I recommend researching the prices on your own and adding them!
Q: Why are some stores not filled in?
A: Either it was not mentioned or there was not enough information to fill it in. My guide is as accurate as I can make it with the current information given. By leaving the bubbles transparent it gives you the opportunity to fill it in with the correct information I might have missed. 🙂
Q: Is Michaels carrying the new stickers?
A: Yes and no. Michaels has a different set schedule compared to the other stores. We’re not sure what and if they’ll be carrying this particular set of stickers, but I imagine that we’ll see some of these by the summer.
Q: When are these products releasing?
A: The mambi (or the new The Happy Planner shop) will be releasing products March 8th. Hobby Lobby is currently setting in stores now. Michaels and Joann are set for mid-March.
