It’s everyone’s favorite time of the new year – new Happy Planner spring reveal! If you’re brand new to the Happy Planner, every year Mambi has several product reveals show casing their new products. While still in its relative infancy stage, these planners have changed the game of the planner community and have a very dedicated and loyal fanbase. This is the fourth year of 18 month planners and their accessories – wow!
That being said, there have been a lot of changes in how these releases are done and how they are showcased. The intial launch was through blog posts and their design team at the time. The second year was a mix of the design team and tons of live and exciting videos done mostly through Periscope. The third year was a mix of design team, live videos and curated videos on YouTube, much like the one that’ll be linked at the end. This year there hasn’t been an update to the design team, however we’re starting off with YouTube! I’m curious to see how the new products will be shown throughout this year and I can not wait to see how this brand grows!
Due to the amount of photos and products being shown, these blog posts will follow along with the videos in terms of their content. Definitely make sure that you check out all three posts to see everything. These posts will be very image heavy so please stay put if the images take a moment to load up!
The Happy Planner Spring Reveal: Part 1
Gold Getter Classic
Gold Getter is set to be the fan favorite this time around. Featuring a cool looking Llama on the cover and exciting and happy imagery throughout the planner, I know this planner will sell out fast.
Gold Getter Mini
An important piece of information regarding this release of mini’s is they’re not undated. The solution to the dated/undated issue that Mambi has been working to combat? Date the planners and have them run from July – June, meaning they feature an academic calendar! I think this was a great move and I definitely plan to pick at least one up featuring this layout.
Squad Goals Classic
Squad Goals is looking to be another planner that will be part of the top three top selling! It’s very feminine and focuses on loving your squad and taking care of eachother. It’s absolutely adorable and while I wish there were more variations of the cover itself, it’s a step in the right direction. I would love to see this updated with more covers to be even more inclusive.
Squad Goals Mini
I prefer the mini cover of Squad Goals way more than the classic. I believe this should’ve been the cover on both planners.

My Thoughts So Far
I believe that the new planner line up is definitely making steps in the right direction. I love the fact that the minis feature an academic year as the undated minis are just too much. There is a huge margin of error when dating the mini planners and eliminating that step is helpful! There are still tons of options of undated planners available if that’s something you wish to have, but for the demographic that wants dated – perfect!
I would love to see the 18-month planners mostly ditched for an academic year as most people run their lives as either a full calendar year or academic year. When the Happy Planner was first introduced their first run as 18-month planners made sense as they released the product around this time in 2015. Now that they’ve become more established, I wouldn’t mind seeing this change. A lot of other planners have echoed this statement in passing and I think it would be a great business move. For all I know this is the plan for 2019, but we’ll have to wait until next year to find out.
What I don’t like is the amount of floral that exists. I understand that floral, feminine, and pastels sell really well, but I’m at a point where I would love to see more neutral options. I enjoy the floral as much as the next person, but it’s just too much. Part 2 of the Happy Planner spring reveal doesn’t change those feelings that much. I’m finding myself geared more towards a big Happy Planner this time around. I do enjoy the classic version of Hand Drawn Whimsy, but other than that nothing is inspiring me as much as Enjoy All the Things and Farmhouse in the big Happy Planner. I’m also not loving that the “Currently” section is back in full force. This is my least favorite section and I hope it changes in the future.
