If you’re a millennial in this day and age you have to read The Millennial’s Guide to Changing the World by Alison Sher. This book offers a true and raw view of the world that we, as millennials, have to deal with each and every day. Throughout all of the humorous monologue, Alison Sher speaks one major truth – we are all in this together. You will cry from hysterical laughter and repeat the words, “That is 100% me” over and over and over again.
Alison Sher takes the time to explain situations not only through personal stories but through stories of other millennials. With a vast digital landscape where everyone tries to pretend that everything is okay, it’s refreshing to see that we’re all just trying to figure it all out. We are the generation where things are not done in the traditional fashion and we’re paving the way for future generations to come. Most of all, we’re taking the time to pave the way for ourselves. This book helps to guide us in living with purpose and changing the world.
The Millennial’s Guide to Changing the World touches on a variety of topics such as relationships, our working lives, and so much more. The best part of it all is that these stories are real, raw, and extremely relatable. Instead of fictitious tales of our generation, we can find similarities to each and every story.
While this book is geared to millennials, it can honestly span generations. Not only does it give our generation a voice, but older generations can begin to understand the wide-spread issues we endure and younger generations can learn from our mistakes. We have got a whole lot of living to do and we all have to do it together.
There is a reason that The Millennial’s Guide to Changing the World hit #1 on Amazon. You will not want to put this book down!
I spent a lot of time debating on whether or not I wanted to make this post. This post was also meant to go up earlier, but it’s okay. I think I lost track of time trying to figure out whether this post would actually go up. I’ve had many discussions with some of my friends on the topic and at the end of them all, I realized something. Even though I know I would have been a great fit, I am totally okay with the fact I didn’t make The Happy Planner Squad. It sounds crazy, but I have some really good reasons why.
disclaimer: I received the PenGems Spring Fling collection from PenGems as a gift. This post will contain affiliate links where I receive a small kickback if you purchase through my link. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
It has been a while since a new PenGems collection has been released! However, the reason for the delay has been for nothing but good reasons. In the time between City Pop and Spring Fling, PenGems has moved to a brand new warehouse with plenty of space for beautiful, sparkly, and absolutely perfect pens! We’ve also started to enter the realm of VIP pen releases! Unfortunately I haven’t hit the VIP tier just yet, but the first pen released was gorgeous. These moves are 100% exciting and I couldn’t be happier for the success of the company and for all of the wonderful VIPs! That being said, us PenGemians have been hungry for new pens. The release of PenGems Spring Fling collection could not have come at a more exciting time.
Happy Freebie Friday everyone! This month’s free insert is an hourly insert for the classic Happy Planner!
My original hourly insert was definitely not up to snuff and I decided to add even more. This insert is double sided and already designed to print exactly as is! Included in this hourly insert is hours from 6 AM/PM to 9:30 AM/PM, a daily gratitude section, and a top three for your day. On the back side of this freebie you’ll see a notes section (I’ll explain why later on!).
I can honestly say that I have struggled all day trying to figure out what to write about today. I have a long list of blog posts I could write, but each attempt at writing was not working well. While trying to figure out how to finish off my current blog post draft, I found myself adventuring through my external hard drive. I didn’t find what I was looking for, but I did stumble upon the first real project that I had created in a long time (at that point). Allow me to share with you all the totally adorable 1st anniversary project I made for Christopher.
Before I entered the planning world, I was very into SmashBooks by K & Company. My mom was friends with a local scrapbook store owner and during one of our trips to her store, she was just placing these on the shelf. Much like my very first Happy Planner, I feel completely in love.
I fell so in love that we would keep going back to the scrapbook store to pick up more pieces to the SmashBook puzzle. One day it would be accessories, another day would be pens, and other days it would be new books. I had amassed a huge stockpile of these wonderful little products…the only problem was I never finished them. I will 100% admit it – I was a SmashBook hoarder.
Eventually Michaels started carrying SmashBook products and an even bigger world opened up. Since our scrapbook store no longer sold the products, it was only fitting that I would spend a lot of time at Michaels picking up even more product. It definitely became a huge problem as the pile kept growing and growing but nothing was happening! Part of the situation was I wasn’t sure what to do with my SmashBook and the other part of it was I didn’t feel my life was interesting enough to start working in these books. Many of the books I owned were started, but definitely never completed.
In 2014, I entered a brand new relationship and with that relationship came a desire to embrace my creative journey. I knew early on that I wanted to create this book specifically for our 1st anniversary and luckily I had plenty of material to work with. I waited until a few days before our anniversary celebration to put this book together and stressed about it every single day. Even though this project made me extremely nervous, I can honestly say it has to be my all time favorite project that I’ve ever made.
